The Technology Playmaker Awards 2020 ("the Awards") are organised by Booking.com B.V. (located at Herengracht 597, 1017 CE Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
The competition is open to all women and in the case of Champion of Change also to all men, over the age of 18, on the day of submission.
Entries to the Awards are free of charge.
A participant may only enter up to three (3) of the Awards categories. We can only accept one entry per person, project or organization for each category.
Entry for the Awards opens on October 1, 2019 at 12:01.
Entry for the Awards closes on January 14, 2020 at 23:59 (EXTENDED DEADLINE)
Entries received past the closing date are not eligible.
The winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony in London on March 26, 2020.
You may submit an entry nominating yourself or nominating another person, or an organization in the case of the "Employer" category, but we will only accept an entry if we are able to contact the person or organization concerned and they confirm that they wish to be nominated/entered.
Nominees who are nominated by others must also be informed of, and agree to these Terms and Conditions. This will be done by requiring the person nominating to tick a box when they submit the nomination to confirm that the nominee has agreed to the Terms & Conditions.
We may block the web browser or IP address of any persons (allegedly) found to be making false entries.
We cannot give an Award to any organization or person that cannot be contacted after the entry has been submitted. We cannot be held responsible for any errors made when submitting your entry so please check the contact details you provide and update us on any changes.
The criteria for shortlisting are determined beforehand and cannot be disputed.
A shortlist of finalists will be selected in each category from the entries submitted by the closing date. It is not possible to appeal the shortlisting.
Shortlisted finalists will be notified by email or phone within twenty one (21) days of the closing date and will be invited to the Awards ceremony, where the winners will be officially announced.
The shortlisted finalist must acknowledge this notification by no later than two (2) weeks after receiving such notification by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If the shortlisted finalist does not acknowledge the notification within the aforesaid time frame, Booking.com has the right to remove the subject finalist from the shortlist.
We will try to notify the person thereof as soon as possible.
The winners are selected beforehand. Therefore, if an Award winning finalist is unable to attend the Awards ceremony, this shall not affect winning of the specific Award.
Up until the date of the Awards ceremony, we reserve the right to remove a finalist from the shortlist in case the entry turns out to be false or fraudulent, or in case of circumstances concerning the participant that may cause detriment to the reputation of the Awards, to Booking.com, to its partners and/or to their related intellectual property rights. We cannot be held liable in relation to such a decision, or its consequences.
An independent panel of judges will select a winner for each category as well as one overall "grand prix" winner. The judges' decisions cannot be disputed or appealed. There will be no correspondence about the judges' decisions and the jury report will not be disclosed. The judges will explain their choices when announcing the winners and will explain how the finalists were selected. However, no detailed feedback will be provided about specific shortlisting decisions or any details about individual entries.
All Award shortlisted entrants and winners will be asked to take part in promotional activities relating to the Awards. Booking.com and the Awards partners (Ketchum Ltd [www.ketchum.com] may use the details of the entries (including but not limited to name, location, details of the entries) and any associated pictures or visuals in relation to the promotion of the Awards and the results of the Awards. This could include but is not limited to promotion on websites, press releases, case studies, media, filming at the awards event on 26th March 2020, all event collateral such as brochures and the book of winners, social media and print. We may alter or edit the entry content as appropriate, for the promotion of the Awards and their results.
The panel of expert judges will be announced on the Awards' website and may change (e.g. in the event of circumstances beyond the control of Booking.com).
Employees of Booking.com, its parent company Booking Holdings and all other companies owned or operated by Booking Holdings, or parties involved in organizing the Awards (including but not limited to Ketchum Ltd), and their family members, are not eligible to nominate themselves or be considered as a nominee for the Awards. Any entries received in which these individuals or organizations will not be considered.
We cannot be held responsible for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, illegible or incomplete or which cannot be entered for any technical or other reasons. Proof of delivery of entry is not proof of receipt thereof.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.If a provision of these terms and conditions is invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the other provisions.
We reserve the right at any time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, any or all Awards with or without prior notice due to reasons outside our control or due to other circumstances, at our discretion. Such decision is final and binding.
The Awards prizes will be awarded by Ketchum Ltd, acting on behalf of Booking.com.
To the extent permitted by applicable laws, we are not liable for any failure to comply with our obligations where such failure is caused by something outside our reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, sickness, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
The "Technology Playmaker Awards" name, the website, logo and all corresponding and related marketing material for the Awards are the intellectual property of Booking.com who own, manage and administer the Awards and Booking.com reserves all rights related thereto. Using any of these without our permission constitutes (outside the legally permitted limitations) an infringement of our intellectual property rights, for which you may be held liable. Please contact us if you wish to make use of such materials, and follow the guidelines we provide in this respect. If you do make use of it without our permission, or outside the legally permitted limitations [or if you do not comply with the provided guidelines] or if you make false claims in relation to the Awards, you are to cease and desist this use upon our first request and remove any published material.
The winner is entirely responsible for assessing and paying all applicable federal, provincial, state and local taxes in any respect of a prize received, if any, including any income or withholding taxes. In the event that Booking.com or Ketchum Ltd is or may reasonably become obliged to pay any withholding tax in relation to a prize, Booking.com or Ketchum Ltd is entitled to deduct such tax from a prize.
All entries must be made in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Our decisions in relation to all matters connected with the Awards are final and binding.
No correspondence can be entered into in respect of any such decisions.
